As I was listening to a prayer request for a pastors wife who just found out her 10year old daughter has cancer it saddened me. I was taken to a place when we were full-time Evangelists and we had just lost our only home to a horrible wreck. It was a dark and lonely time. I remember asking " Why God?" We have given everything we have to you and yet you allow us to walk through this very deep and dark time. Ministry from the view point of the bleachers can seem to be a fun and easy life style. A preaching position is often coveted by those who are young. There is a word that often comes to those who have given it all. CALLED It's that calling that remains through it all. Even when the missionary loses one of their kids. Or the church planter who only now has a handful of people, after a few years, in their living room and the dream in their hearts are frustrated. To the Pastor's wife who has battled the same trouble that seems to keep stirring up Gods people. I don't want to seem trite. However even as we tell others it does rain on the just and the unjust.Yet it sometimes does not sink in during a time when its dark and the tunnel is all around. 2 Corinthians 4:1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not: This whole chapter is full of the promises of God for those in the Ministry. Truly CALLED goes deep and when the wind blows its that calling that remains.
