Delicious & Easy Jam

I went to the store today and fell in love with the fresh strawberries that were on sale. There is nothing like fresh strawberry jam in the morning on toast or a hot biscuit! Today I made the first batch of some quick fresh strawberry jam. It is an easy recipe. You can make it with blueberries as well.
Cut 2 and half lbs into a sauce pan, add 3 3/4 cup of sugar, squeeze the juice from one lemon into it and cook low until all the sugar is dissolved
put into a bowl and cover then put it into the fridge all night Next day bring to a boil and then simmer, let cool spoon into sterilized jars and seal. Refrigerate and Enjoy!

Cross Point Retreat

It is spring break! I love spending time with my family outdoors. I had heard that the Cross Point Retreat Center was a great place for Pastors to bring their families. So we packed up the boat and headed to the Lake of the Ozarks to check it out. They give great discounts to pastors. If you are an AG pastor you get two nights free. The rooms were clean and well taken care of.
It is more of a relaxed atmosphere. I say this is a perfect place for ACTIVE families. They offer... • Mini Golf • Pool (must provide your own life guards/supervision) • Swings • Picnic area • Lake access * Rock climbing wall • Basketball • Volleyball • Dodgeball • Carpet ball • Fuse ball • Ping Pong\
The gym is open to the guests till mid-night. Often times we are called upon to come check out retreat facilities for recommendations. I recommend this place for a pastors family get-away. We took our boat on the water and loved all the stops and resturants along the sides to explore. Cross Points long beautiful drive will lead you to what is stated on their website: www.http://crosspointecamp.com/

Shrimp Avocado Salad

I was truly inspired to make this salad. It looks so yummy!(by Truly Smitten) Shrimp Avocado salad with sesame dressing - Mixed baby greens - Frozen shrimp - cherry tomatoes (sliced in half) - carrots (I use potato peeler to make these thin ribbons of carrots) - cucumber (chopped) - red cabbage (sliced) - avocado (sliced and scooped) Boil shrimp for a few minutes and take off tail. In a large salad bowl, mix all greens and ingredients together. For dressing: 1/3 cup olive oil 1 teaspoon light soy sauce 1/5 teaspoon or more to taste of sesame oil 1 teaspoon honey 1 teaspoon rice vinegar splash of mirin salt and pepper *you can add more or less of these ingredients to your taste - I didn't really measure it exactly...I just 'eyeball' my wet ingredients and do it all by taste*

Disguising Asparagus

Last night I tried hiding asparagus with bacon. I had heard about this many times and thought I would give it a try.
Grill it with turkey bacon for lowfat. They boys loved it! Yes!!! What else can I disguise?

Spring Blossoms

We are so looking forward to going out and cutting flowers for an arrangement. However, Spring came early and we had to wait for the ground blossoms. So we made an arrangement from the new budding Magnolia trees. In Girls of God class we assembled them together. Spencer cut them for us.
Cut your limbs at an angle and put them in really warm water to wake them up and they will continue to bloom.

2012 Ministers Wives and Women in Ministry SOMOAG Conference

Thursday Vickie and I packed the car full of fun goodies for the conference.
After a day of decorating Rhonda Amer made us a fabulous meal at her sweet lake front cottage.
ALL ABOARD!! The title of the Conference this year was "Anchored" We were hosting a great group of Women on our local ship style conference.
When the fog horn blew we had great prizes and chocolate. You never knew when that would be and we all love chocolate! We started out with a Tea at 2 p.m.
Vicki Miller spoke about the 5 H's on how to comunicate in the ministry. She did an amazing job! Dinner that night was smothered chicken with cheese and mushrooms with many sides to choose from. The kitchen chef and all the servers were great!
Later we had Pinterest Live. Each presenter all shared wonderful ministry ideas.
I had so much fun leading that session. The ladies from Oak Assembly lead the worship.I am so proud of them. They did an amazing job allowing God to anoint them. The speaker that night was Karen Yancy. She spoke to all of us with such passion.
The next day was filled with so many fun things along with the great word of God. Our last speaker was Vickie Miller. I can't explain how wonderful it feels to have a real person sharing real ministry trials as well as victories. She shared from her heart what God gave to us. I am so thankful for a leader who is real. She will be effective in all her leadership.

3. Using spoon, drop lumps of dough onto cookie sheets 1.5in apart. Bake for 10min. 4. In a bowl, melt butter and mix with oregano and garlic salt. 5. When the timer goes off, take them out and brush with butter mixture and bake 5min at 400F and another 5-6min at 350F.

A Healthy Church

A healthy church will detect and reject disease. If you have people who will not submit to Christ, never change, loving their sin, always questioning authority in their pride or loves to start fires in the church, then you have unhealthy areas in the body. If the body is truly healthy two things will happen 1. They will have a desire to change to become healthy or 2. they feel so uncomfortable they can't stay and will move on. Health is the biggest factor of a church. Its not the numbers. It's the HEALTH. We concentrate on five health areas at Oak. We are not interested in growing big and have obesity in the church. We are looking at the systems of the body that make it grow strong and whole.
If you have an unhealthy church then healthy people who come to try out your church can not stay because they since disease in the church. When you are building health into the church then it's ok that you sew other people into other churches if they can't agree with yours. If you plant them you are not losing them. You will gain a harvest. Because you poured seed into them. Some people who have certain expectation when they come will probable drive you nuts. Let them go.Sew them onto another field. Years ago in Perryville we had a young couple who were more use to a bigger church and all of its ways, came with big expectations. They were young and were always judging everything that was done according to what they were use to. Why didn't we not have a slide inside for their kids to play on? Why did we have to worship the way we did? Why wasn't there anymore deep teaching? Now they only came on Sunday morning. They rest of the time they lived for themselves and all the games they could scream at that came along. I finally told them hey maybe you would feel more comfortable in a baptist church. Certain denominations take on personalities that match certain people. If you are a young church or new pastor don't get discouraged by the shedding it takes to build a HEALTHY church. God sometimes just brings people for a season and a reason. Some people are not builders. Some people are not planters. God will build his church if we allow it to become healthy. If it's healthy then you can not stop it from growing.
